Brigham Young's House

Signing the Brigham Young descendants book!  The Sister Missionary in the Brigham Young house was so nice.  She told us about a recent experience she had, sharing the gospel with someone in Nauvoo.  She said the Spirit took over and user her to teach a lady who later got baptized.  She told Isaac he would have experiences like that on his mission.  We saw her several more times and she treated us like family after that, you seem to really know some of the missionaries there by the time you leave.

Auriana's Show in Nauvoo

We drove from Council Bluffs to Nauvoo, did some grocery shopping and got to our Condo by about 4:00.  We quickly unloaded and headed into Nauvoo to see some sites before they closed at 5:00.  We were able to go to Auriana's show that night, and even though it was very hot and very buggy, it was so fun to watch.

Winter Quarters, Nebraska

Day 1, Winter Quarters
We left at 5:00 am and drove all day to Winter Quarters, Nebraska, arriving there at 8:00 pm. They closed at 9:00 so we stopped there for a quick tour of the visitors center and saw the beautiful temple across the street before we went to Carver's for dinner.  We chose Carver's because they serve soup and Isaac had his wisdom teeth out just two days before.  Notice he isn't smiling in any of the pictures.

We also drove past the Kanesville Tabernacle in Council Bluffs, Iowa where Brigham Young was sustained as the Prophet.  It was already closed for the day.

The Beach

We spent one day at Laguna Beach exploring the tide pools. Alan and Konnie, Karen, and Rachel were with us and we had fun enjoying the sights and the sounds of the ocean. We heard there were 15 white whales out in the distance that day, but we never saw anything. It was exciting to imagine, though. We spent the next day at Hermosa beach with alot more family. Everyone enjoyed the waves and the fun! I think we took quite a bit of sand back to our hotel room that night, but we took alot of memories back with us as well. Uncle Chad taught the kids how to dig for sand crabs and Bjorn had fun with the kids building a sand castle. Miriam got buried by her cousins and Uncle Steve said when she got out she was going to be a mermaid. She was hoping...Bjorn and I even found a minute to go for a walk along the beach.

The "Y" Mountain

We made it to the "Y" and it must have been at least 95 degrees outside. It was Jenny's idea, so we (and Kavin) were happy to tag along, since I hadn't made that hike in at least 15 years. Miriam and Ellie always see the "Y", so they were excited (and tired) to actually touch it.
