Adam Ondi Ahman

Monday morning, we left Nauvoo at 4:00am and arrived at Adam Ondi Ahman at 7:30am.  It was beautiful, and we were the only ones there.  We walked around for 30 minutes and enjoyed the view and the quiet, peaceful sounds of the birds.  We then headed for Liberty Jail and Independence before our long drive to Denver to watch Natalie play soccer.

Carthage

We enjoyed our visit to Carthage.  The spirit is strong there, and everything is so reverent.  We went on Sunday which made it even more special.  We sat together quietly outside after the tour and Bjorn bore his testimony to us.  We will all remember our experience at Carthage.

The Nauvoo Temple

Four of the kids (and Bjorn) were able to do baptisms in the Nauvoo Temple on Saturday night. They even had the opportunity to visit with the Temple President for 30 minutes before.   It is such a beautiful site on the hill there.  Ellie and I enjoyed the view and a show in Nauvoo while we waited. The entertainment is always so professional and so much fun!

We saw an amazing sunset from the temple hill.

The Pendleton School

The Pendleton School ... Calvin Pendleton is not a direct ancestor to us, but he is related somehow.  It was fun to pretend we were Pioneer children in school.

Brigham Young's House

Signing the Brigham Young descendants book!  The Sister Missionary in the Brigham Young house was so nice.  She told us about a recent experience she had, sharing the gospel with someone in Nauvoo.  She said the Spirit took over and user her to teach a lady who later got baptized.  She told Isaac he would have experiences like that on his mission.  We saw her several more times and she treated us like family after that, you seem to really know some of the missionaries there by the time you leave.

Auriana's Show in Nauvoo

We drove from Council Bluffs to Nauvoo, did some grocery shopping and got to our Condo by about 4:00.  We quickly unloaded and headed into Nauvoo to see some sites before they closed at 5:00.  We were able to go to Auriana's show that night, and even though it was very hot and very buggy, it was so fun to watch.

Winter Quarters, Nebraska

Day 1, Winter Quarters
We left at 5:00 am and drove all day to Winter Quarters, Nebraska, arriving there at 8:00 pm. They closed at 9:00 so we stopped there for a quick tour of the visitors center and saw the beautiful temple across the street before we went to Carver's for dinner.  We chose Carver's because they serve soup and Isaac had his wisdom teeth out just two days before.  Notice he isn't smiling in any of the pictures.

We also drove past the Kanesville Tabernacle in Council Bluffs, Iowa where Brigham Young was sustained as the Prophet.  It was already closed for the day.
